How does a person find their passion?

This is a topic that has come up quite a bit lately around this house. And it’s a good one. Really, how does a person find what it is that they are driven to do? That they love to do?

We go to work, we go to school, we go to bed, we start the cycle over again the next morning. But do we love what we do?

Listening to Great Big Sea’s “Wave Over Wave” today had me really thinking, too. Silly, I know, but the end lyrics got me thinking:

          I've sailed the world over for decades or more

          And oft' times I wonder what I do it for

          I don't know the answer its pleasure and pain

          But with life to live over I'd do it again

It would be nice to have that kind of passion – no matter what, to want to do it all over again.

Of course in real life there’s the need to balance finding/following one’s passion with paying the bills!
