Kicking back, watching Robin Hood. We've watched GI Joe and Sex in the City (surprisngly good - I've never seen the show) so far tonight.

A very relaxing day. Feeling pretty nice and calm and just ahhhh. Started out the day with sitting at the table, sipping coffee and going through cookbooks with my daughter. She found a recipe that sounded interesting, so we discussed that, Media West, and a host of other things. Nice way to start a Saturday!

The four of us (me, Roo, Dem, queenmidalah) headed to the mall to get some errands taken care of, then queenmidalah and I got pedicures. Got cut, too. Not the best place, apparently! At least we have shiny, happy feet now, though. The broken toe doesn't hurt as much any longer, even. It's a happy thing.

What I really need is a massage. If my back were any tighter, it'd be pulling in on itself. I can't remember the last massage I had, I think it was before the divorce.

Wedding

annaonthemoon got married on Thursday and had the reception last night. It was very nice! Roo and Demmy helped out, even making sure that people had appetizers as they mingled.

I didn't chicken out!

Spent most of the night making sure my lady bits were covered, but I didn't chicken out! queenmidalah says there were men flirting with me, but I think I missed it.

At first, I felt like a guy in drag, when I put the blue and white wig on, but it was fun!

A mother's sacrifice

Talking to my mom tonight on my drive home from work (she called me back after my, um, butt called her for me!), we were talking about things from when I was growing up.

We were talking about times when Dad, or one of us kids, would invite someone to dinner without asking her first. We were not well-off, sometimes under the poverty level, I think. So there were times when dinner was on the lean side.

I told her tonight that she might have thought we didn't notice, but we knew there were times when she didn't have a piece of chicken like everyone else, or hardly ate at all because there wasn't enough to serve everyone.

You know, she never complained. Not once. Tonight was the first time in 40 years, though, that I thanked her for that.

1 - I emailed Mary Alice about POSSIBLY doing a cake for Media instead.

2 - Went to see Paranormal Activity tonight with queenmidalah, Roo and Dem. I am sleeping with the lights on tonight. I don't care how much of a wimp that makes me, so there!

3 - Alida's changed her look again. Now she looks like this. It's not too different (different skin and hair), but it's a little more intense than her last look.

I left work on time yesterday. I tweeted about it. Roo tweeted back, wanting to know if the world was ending and rsmit212 was sure he was having a reaction to his cold meds. It may be the last time for a while, unfortunately, as we work toward getting caught up after a system issue. Who knew warranty work could be so much fun? ;)

As I was making dinner tonight, queenmidalah was scritching Orion and she noticed... FLEAS. OMG, FLEAS! My dog is eight years old and has never had fleas! It seems this year is a bad one for the bugs. Damnit. I've never had to deal with this and I'm a little squicked at it. Bugs in the house? EEWWWWW. I feel all itchy just thinking about it!

Roo has a parade to be in on Saturday, as Johnny Appleseed. Then a party, then a movie. Busy kid. That's IF she feels better. Her school is about 5 kids away from shutting down because of H1N1. 350 kids absent on Wednesday, with 35 confirmed cases of H1N1.

On the way home today, the last turn was blocked by multiple fire engines, police cars and other emergency vehicles. At first, I thought the car was Roo's friend's car and I admit, I freaked out a bit until I realized it wasn't hers. It's scary, the kids driving already! Hopefully, the injuries in the cars involved in the accident weren't too bad. It looked like they hit hard, with one of them shoving the other into the fence around the horse pasture. The horses were staying far away from all of the lights.

And so ends another Thursday. Dishes are done, coffee for tomorrow is prepped, feet are up. This is good.

Just got off the phone with Mom. She's having an MRI scheduled after taking a nasty tumble down the stairs. Hopefully, it's "just" torn ligaments and nothing more intense.

Really... she's going to be confined to bed for the last quarter of each year at this rate!
